The Stone Bench Top Installation Work Method Statement Information:

The Stone Bench Top Installation Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive 6 page procedure for Cabinet Making, outlining the safety steps for Installing a Stone Bench Top.

The Stone Bench Top Installation procedure is ready to use and is not a blank template. Simply add your company details, ABN, and include any site specific details or risks and make it specific to the task at hand. It is then ready for printing and to be incorporated as part of your overall OHS System.

The Stone Bench Top Installation Work Method Statement for Cabinet Makers can be used as part of your OHS inductions, for Tool box talks or tender applications.

Stone Bench Top Installation Safety Notes:

This SWMS covers the installation of pre-fabricated stone (such as granite and reconstituted stone materials) countertops/bench tops. This does not include the manufacture, cutting and polishing of the stone. Main hazards:

  • manual handling
  • crushing
  • trips, falls
  • inhalation of crystalline silica

Use stone dolly to transport stone to installation site.

If this is not possible, use a team lift. Team lifts must be coordinated and practiced. Ensure adequate communication and continue to check for obstacles during transport. Move slowly. Consider use of carry clamps with handles.

Always carry vertically and avoid twisting stone.

Note: For pre-cut sink/cooktop pieces, attach bars with suction cups parallel to each other in cut-outs. Ensure good suction before moving. Recheck suction after 20 minutes (if still required). Place all pieces and check all seams are aligned.

Seaming:

  • Use seam setters as per manufacturers instructions
  • Apply suction cups firmly – check firm attachment
  • Adjust seam to approx 1/6 inch
  • Apply polyester/hardner mix in appropriate colour
  • Close joint and scrape away excess using razor.

Each document must identify the risks involved when performing the activity, a risk rating for each risk, a safe work method to perform the activity and a residual risk rating for the risks. SafetyCulture SWMS comply with current WH&S legislation in all states across Australia. This document is fully completed with a step by step procedure that can be edited and appended. This is not a blank template, it is a comprehensive procedure that has been researched and developed by a qualified writer.
